Set Physics Competition Record
-
Junior Year I took AP physics and one of the crucial projects we did was the Rube Goldberg Project. This project is required and is conducted every year. You can work by yourself or with a partner.
-
The parameters of the project were to build a contraption within 24in x 24in x 24in the cube, and have at least 4 energy transfers result in the raising of a flag. The goal was to raise the flag as high as possible.
-
The previous record for the highest flag raised was nearly 5 feet, set 6 years prior.
-
I built my contraption to beat the record using a truly out-of-the-box design that used a tape measure as the flag-raising mechanism.
-
I set a record of 8ft which still stands as the all-time record.
